What Does a Counsellor Do?
A counsellor provides important support to people living with disability, helping them navigate and manage their mental health, emotional wellbeing and everyday challenges.
Counsellors provide therapeutic services such as individual counselling to address emotional, psychological and social challenges.
They work collaboratively with clients to develop personalised strategies and goals designed to improve wellbeing and quality of life.
Counsellors may also assist clients to connect with other useful support services, encouraging a holistic approach that promotes independence, confidence and resilience.
Areas We Can Support
Counselling is tailored to each person’s needs, experiences and personal goals.
One to One Counselling
Individual counselling within a private, respectful and supportive environment.
Social Challenges
Support to explore social barriers, communication challenges, relationships and connection within the community.
Emotional Issues
Assistance to understand emotions, develop coping strategies and build greater emotional regulation and resilience.
Working Alongside Each Client
Sandy’s counselling approach is holistic and proactive.
It seeks to address a broad range of psychological, social, spiritual and cognitive issues that may present as challenges or barriers to a person’s goals and quality of life.
Counselling interventions gently unpack these issues while also supporting personal wellbeing alongside the client’s ongoing treatment plans.
Where change is needed, it is approached respectfully and in a way that encourages choice, control and empowerment.
