Jupiter Supports

Developmental Educator

My name is Bianca, and I’m excited to join Jupiter Supports as their Developmental Educator!

I’m passionate about inclusion and committed to person-centred practice. Having recently completed my degree in Disability and Developmental Education, I’m eager to apply my knowledge to support individuals in achieving their goals and living fulfilling lives.

I have a strong drive to empower people to reach their full potential—whether that’s through building life skills, supporting emotional regulation, or fostering independence. My approach is caring, collaborative, and focused on what truly matters to each individual.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, going on walks, and traveling.

Key Qualities:

Empathy and Compassion

DEs work closely with people with disabilities and their families, so having a genuine understanding and care for others is essential. They must build trust and support individuals through personal and emotional challenges.

Strong Communication Skills

They need to communicate clearly with clients, families, other professionals, and service providers — both verbally and in writing. This includes explaining strategies, writing support plans, and advocating for clients’ needs.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking

Every individual’s needs are different. DEs must creatively develop tailored strategies and interventions, assess risks, and evaluate what approaches will support the person best.

Adaptability and Patience

Progress can be gradual, and plans often need adjusting. DEs must be flexible in their approach and patient while working towards long-term developmental goals with clients.

Knowledge of Human Development and Disability

A strong foundation in developmental psychology, disability studies, and evidence-based practices is key. DEs apply this knowledge when creating person-centred programs and support strategies..

What is a DE

A Developmental Educator (DE) is a university-qualified allied health professional who works with people with disabilities to support their learning, development, independence, and quality of life. DEs are experts in human development and use a person-centred and strength-based approach to create individualised strategies that help clients reach their personal goals.
